Alter egos are used across society, superheroes wear masks, singers change wigs for the stage, writers choose different names for publishing.

An alter ego can represent lots of things. It can include traits which are the opposite of your true personality or be a role for you to enact.

Having an alter ego isn't enough, you have to select a name which fits with your alter ego's specific likes, dislikes, and traits. A common example is Clark Kent who, once he removes his glasses and wears his costume, becomes Superman! Alter egos can be used by anyone to explore a different side of themselves, try something new, or make life more interesting. There are no rules - except keeping it a secret (shh!) and choosing a good alter ego name!
