If so, this makes you a Capricorn! If not, then perhaps you are curious about the Capricorns in your life, well we have looked to the stars and found some pretty interesting facts about our earthy friends.

1. The dates for Capricorn fall between 22 December and 19 January. The Zodiac does not follow our months exactly, so the signs will overlap into more than one, in this case Capricorn is the zodiac sign for January and December.

2. The symbol for Capricorn is the Sea Goat, this is illustrated as a creature with the hoofs of a mountain goat and the tail of a fish. This symbolizes Capricorn's ability to climb from the farthest depths to the highest heights.

3. The Capricornus constellation is located in the fourth quadrant of the southern hemisphere, this constellation is the 40th biggest in the entire sky!

4. The word Capriconus means "goat" in Latin, this constellation was first recorded by the Greek astronomer Ptolemy, in second century.

5. The ancient Greeks associated this constellation with the forest deity known as Pan, and in other stories as the the goat who cared for a baby Zeus, Amalthea.

Pan once escaped a monster by jumping into the river Nile, and transforming his lower body into that of a fish, this is believed to be why Capricorn is symbolized as a goat with a fish tail.

6. The Capricornus constellation contains at least three notable stars, as well as the famous globular cluster Messier 30.

7. Capricorn's ruling planet is Saturn, believed to be the "planet of karma".

8. Along with karma, Saturn rules structure, order, and the lessons that our experiences can teach us.

9. Saturn also rules Aquarius, another of the zodiac signs of January.

10. Saturn takes between 28 and 30 years to complete its orbit of the zodiac.

11. Capricorn is the 10th sign of the Zodiac and the last Earth sign.

12. Along with Capricorn, the other Earth signs are Virgo and Taurus.

13. Earth is believed to be the element of patience, stability, discipline, commitment, strength and permanence.

14. Earth signs have been called the builders of the zodiac, a reference to the firm and grounded element.
