The old Baltimore Orioles are now popularly known as the New York Yankees.

They are a professional baseball team from America; they are from New York City's Bronx borough. A member of the American League (AL) East Division, it competes in Major League Baseball (MLB).

New York has two major league clubs, the first one is New York Yankees, and the other is New York Mets. The New York Yankees began as the New York Highlanders in 1903, owned by a group of New York bartenders who bought the Baltimore franchise for $18,000.

The team is often called by these names: Yankee, Yanks, Bronx Bombers, or Bombers. The capacity of the New York Yankees to hit record-breaking home runs earned them many nicknames, mostly given by the press. They are identified by their pinstripe style uniform.

The New York Yankees team is owned by Global Enterprises, which is an LLC (limited liability company) of the late George Steinbrenner's family. He purchased the team in 1973.

The team's general manager is Brian Cashman, and its team field manager is Aaron Boone. Their official song is 'Here Come The Yankees', and when concluding, they play Frank Sinatra's 'New York, New York.'
