The Bracco Italiano is a dog that originates in Italy. It is known as the Italian pointer pointing dog and is a loyal, affectionate, trainable, playful, and a little stubborn dog.

Its roots go much farther back. Originally two types existed simultaneously. The Bracco Italiano dog is popularly known as a hunting dog and its history has been noted in paintings and writings from the 4th and 5th centuries BC.

Health problems that these dogs might face include hip and elbow dysplasia, kidney disease, entropion which is when their eyelids roll inwards. As well as these, because of its deep chest, it is prone to bloating and other gastric problems.

The Bracco Italiano Club of America (BICA) was founded in 2007 and the Bracco Italiano is recognized as a purebred dog by the group. This dog was not introduced onto American soil until the 1990s.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) recognizes them and approved them to compete in AKC companion and performance since January 2010.

The Bracco Italiano is a dog breed that was developed by the cross between a Segugio Italiano and an Asiatic mastiff which is now an extinct species. These dogs can reproduce within themselves and post-mating the female goes through a gestation period and gives birth to four to six Bracco Italiano puppies.

However, most owners who own a male dog get them castrated before adopting them to avoid any further complications, and the Bracco Italiano puppy is castrated when it's small itself. Castration should not be performed however if the dog is kept for breeding purposes.
