Frugs are a mixed breed dog. Its origins are from the pug and French bulldog both of whom are purebreds and are equally popular and good.

The Frug is known as a designer breed given that they have acquired traits from the French bulldog and pug.

These unique and small creatures are extremely active and unpredictable in nature and require constant attention. It is advised to always consider adopting a first-generation dog of these species to ensure they possess comparatively fewer health issues.

The French bulldog pug is not hypoallergenic in nature and rarely shed because of its glossy, silky smooth, and fine hair. Health issues include Glaucoma, allergies, hip dyslexia, patellar luxation, breathing difficulties, entropion, and cataracts so regular visits to the vet are beneficial to treat any early signs of these problems.

The American Kennel Club does not recognize Frugs since they are a mixed breed. They are, however, recognized by other organizations like the American Canine Hybrid Club (ACHC) and the Dog Registry of America among various others.

Frug is a type of dog that is capable of living up to the age of 12-15 years. A French bulldog full grown is about 9-12 months when it reaches full growth capacity, while a pug stops growing by nine months.

Frug dog's exact population is not determined however they became popular in the 2000s as a lap dog friendly towards all other beings. In the United States, it came in around the last 20 to 30 years and has remained popular.

Where does a Frug live?

These dogs live in a house, or in a shelter home along with other animals. Frenchie loves constant activity and exercise and enjoys being around people hence they require enough space to move around and be active.

They also follow their owners wherever they go. They adapt to staying alone at home but crave attention and activity immediately once the owner returns back home.

Male and female Frugs come together to mate and reproduce their own kind however, breeding with another species for a Frug is not considered appropriate since it is a mixed breed already, and while they have acquired good traits they too are at risk if they are further crossbred since it may lead to complications at a later stage of the offspring's life.

At one time they give birth to four to six puppies in each litter.

The offsprings cannot be considered as an authentic version of a Frug and will have slight variations in terms of its external appearance as well as internal characteristics.

Frug dogs weigh approximately 15-30 lb which is 7-14 kg and need to be maintained through proper activity and exercise. Both males and females of the species weigh the same more or less.

Dietary requirements include feeding the dog minimum of two times with food that contains a nutritional value and is of good quality. They do not need to feed lots of food but in appropriate proportions and consulting a professional if advisable to avoid confusion.

The male and female of the species are not named differently and follow normal naming conventions for dogs. However, to differentiate between the two one can consult a veterinarian to identify the basic reproductive functions. If they are a pet they respond to names kept by the owners as well.

Frug puppies are referred to as a puppy. When they are born they their ears stand upright but if this is not the case it usually happens in a period of eight weeks and takes place because the puppy is done with teething and has got enough calcium to build ear cartilage.

In case its ears still don't stand upright it is advised to employ taping them to provide support to help them.

What do they eat?

The French bulldog pug is an omnivore and consumes one and a half to two cups of dog food but divided into meals two times a day. Apart from this they also eat canned food, dry kibble, raw meat, and bones, eggs, fish.

It's important to ensure that they are not given too much dry food as then they tend to overeat ultimately gaining too much weight. It might be a good idea to check with your vet for the best diet for your Frenchie pug.

Are they slobbery?

Frugs are slobbery beings compared to other breeds. However, you will only experience a little slobbering which is manageable with the use of napkins or tissues. The dog tends to slobber mostly after eating, drinking, and after intensive exercise.  

Would they make a good pet?

Given their compatible size, shape, energy, and personality they make an ideal pet for any home. They love both outdoor and indoor activities and follow you around if there is no activity present.

They are good companions and friends to elders, children as well as other animals both canines and others which is an additional advantage if someone already has other pets at home.

As mentioned earlier it's essential to get a proper understanding of the dog's history in order to understand if it is a first-generation dog else special care needs to be taken to ensure proper healthcare for the dog. The French bulldog pug training process is similar to other dogs.

Dogs training happens gradually and in this case too it's a challenging process but extremely rewarding in the end. To make the process easier it's advisable to start training your Frenchie pug at a young age.

Positive reinforcements like offering treats or words of encouragement work better than negative reinforcements in the case of Frugs. They retain their learning and won't fail to surprise and be your best buddy at all times.
