Pied Tamarins are also known as Sanguinus bicolor scientifically. The Pied Tamarins belong to the Callitrichidae family. These are endangered species.

The Pied Tamarins are small animals. These animals are found in tropical regions of Central and South America and Mexico.

Some of the Pied Tamarins live in protected areas. These species are omnivores but do prefer to eat fruit flowers. This animal is mostly found in forests.

These animals live in groups of many males and females. The Pied Tamarins have non-opposable thumbs and it resembles claws. Only the dominant female in the group breeds and this dominant female can mate with multiple mates.

The communication among the Pied Tamarins includes whistles and chirps. These animals are known to live for 10-15 years. While the exact number of Pied Tamarins is unknown, it has been recorded that there are around 170 Pied Tamarins in zoos throughout the world.

Predators of these species include small wild cats, birds of prey, and snakes. Males and females of the species of Pied Tamarins look similar and there are not many differences.

Most of the care of the infant is done by the male and only given to the female for nursing. These species are considered to be intelligent species. The several species include Cotton-top Tamarin, Emperor Tamarin, Red-Handed Tamarin, Moustached Tamarin, White-footed, and white-lipped Tamarin, Black Tamarin, and  Mottle-faced Tamarin.

The locomotion of the Pied Tamarin monkeys is diurnal, arboreal, and quadrupedal. They forage in trees using all four limbs by leaping and clinging from branches.
