Verdin birds and their survival can be seriously affected negatively due to climate change. The constant increase in temperature is projected to lead to droughts, spring heatwaves, and the probability of wildfires.

Droughts and wildfires will lead to the destruction of the habitat of the Verdin bird especially along the Southern part of North America (near Mexico). Spring heatwaves will harm the young birds who are still in their nests preparing to grow.

Apart from climate change, this bird also faces threats from predators like sharp-shinned hawks, coachwhip snakes.
