The Westiepoo has its origin in the United States around the 1970s after the Cockapoo was produced. This dog is a mixed breed and its parents are West Highland White Terriers and the Poodles.

These dogs are called designer dogs. The Westie originated from Scotland and the standard Poodle originated from Germany and was refined by the French. These poodle mix dogs or designer dogs are medium-sized animals with a fluffy, white coat.

Three to six Westiepoo puppies are born at once. The Westiepoo adult weighs around 20-30 lb (9-14 kg).

These Westiepoo dogs make great pets. The Westiepoo temperament is what makes them great pets as they are friendly, lovable, and loyal and get attached to the owner and their family very easily.

The grooming and training of these terrier poodle dogs are easy and manageable. As they are a Westie Poodle mix dog, these dogs do not have a breed status and are instead known as a hybrid.

Adult dogs require protein to maintain strong muscles and tendons, Glucosamine and Omega 3 for healthy cartilage and joints and a limited amount of fats to keep their energy levels at an appropriate rate without leading to gain in weight as overeating can cause health problems. A grain-free diet is highly recommended for these dogs.

They also require access to a good amount of fresh water to stay hydrated due to their energetic behavior and it also helps digestion.

While many believe that the Westiepoo is a hypoallergenic dog, this may not always be the case as these dogs do shed, although they are low shedders and are easy to maintain. These dogs require a good brush every few days and ears need to be cleaned every week or every two weeks.

The Westiepoo is considered to be the most desirable pet. They are friendly, loving, and loyal and love to be around owners and their families.

These dogs can adapt to live in apartments and are kid-friendly. The trainability done at an early stage makes this dog more convenient to pet.

The Westiepoo's grooming needs are minimal and low shedding makes it easier to pet this dog.

The West Highland White Terrier was bred white on purpose and has this white coat for its own safety. Colonel Malcolm was out hunting Cairn Terriers and accidentally shot his favorite dog Westiepoo and thus, this designer dog was bred all white so that it could be visible during hunting.  

Breeders started producing poodle hybrids around the 1960s and the first mixed breed was a cockapoo and the Westiepoo poodle mix came around the 1970s.  

Despite being in existence for so many years, the Westiepoo does not have a breed status, they are known as a hybrid.

Standard Poodles have hair like humans which keeps growing and needs grooming regularly.

There are various names for this dog breed like Westidoodle and Wee Poo.

The male and female Westiepoo have certain physical differences. Males tend to be larger than females and usually engage in sexually aggressive behaviors like humping and making their territory by peeing whereas females tend to be a bit taciturn.

Early socialization and obedience training of this designer dog makes it the best dog there can be. Crate training is preferred over housetraining. The training should be based on positive reinforcement and rewards.

A Westiepoo is more friendly with other pooches than with cats and thus, is dog-friendly and not cat-friendly.

The Westiepoo puppies from the same litter can look different in terms of the shape of their eyes and color.

The terrier side of this Westiepoo makes it a stubborn dog.
