Till 1967, Joel went to Hicksville High School. However, he was unable to graduate from high school along with his classmates.
Despite being a bright student, Joel couldn't achieve the required number of credits for graduating. From then, he initiated his hustle for a successful future in the music industry instead of joining summer school.
Later, he said in an interview that he thought to himself that if his credits cannot take him to the University of Columbia, then his talent would take him to the records under the Columbia label. He didn’t even need a diploma from high school to go there.
