Traditions And Customs

On this day, take a pledge to expect to be treated with kindness, and treat everyone with kindness. Being kind to others begins with being kind to yourself, so every day, repeat the mantra 'I deserve to be treated with kindness.'

Exchange negative words with positive ones like replacing insults into kind gestures, anger with deep breathing, and instead of yelling, use kind words like, 'let me understand.'

Real love is kind, not fierce. So, give a voice for violence and support others still suffering in silence. If you know anyone who is unaware of the domestic violence they are undergoing, help them or report to DV centers; they will reach out for their physical and emotional support.

Speak confidently and ask for what you want instead of silencing yourself. Kindness should start from yourself, so practice self-care habits regularly like getting proper sleep, consuming healthy food, and doing the things that make you genuinely happy.

This is the day to say no to abuse and violence and yes to love, kindness, and healthy boundaries.

Ways To Observe National Love Is Kind Day

The day aims to spread kindness aimed at ending abuse. So, on this day, observe all domestic violence or abuse victims who found their freedom.

If you are a survivor, don't forget the mantra; you deserve the right to be treated with kindness, including healthy boundaries. You have left the unhealthy relationship; this is your independence day; take the entire day to be proud of the brave decision.

Understand that real love respects each other, and kindness is the path to respect, healthy, and safer relationships in families, society, and the kinder world.

While celebrating, share your story on social media, which might be helpful for someone facing the same abuse. Finally, tag Love is Kind Movement when sharing your stories on social media.
