Miami, a city of Miami Dade County, in the state of Florida is one of the southeastern cities of the United States of America.

It is a city containing a number of leading resorts, situated on the port of the Atlantic Ocean, with Biscayne Bay at its west. Miami's skyline includes huge glass-bodied skyscrapers with popping neon lights.

Miami's famous Brickell neighborhood is the fastest growing financial district of the hotspot city. The city's population is 70% Latin/Hispanic.

Another famous district, the Little Havana in the west (downtown), transformed into a Cuban enclave within the city. The tropical climate of Miami, Florida makes it an adventurous city for its tourists which is a major part of the city's economy.

The city is lined up with many golf courses, dazzling skyscrapers, coconut groves, and the most famous white south beach.

History of Miami

The city of Miami was named in 1896 by a Native American tribe who lived near the lake currently called Okeechobee. This lake was historically known as 'Lake Mayaimi'. Julia Tuttle, an American apprentice bought land in this area in 1891 and foretold that this area was a great land to build upon a city.

After her move to the city, various communities joined in to reside in this new place. Very soon, a family named 'Brickell', arrived in and established themselves as prospering Indian traders and cunning real estate investors.

Various industrialists laid foundations for resorts and hotels. The city of Miami started to get developed at a tremendous speed. Other millionaires saw an opportunity for a successful business, which made them build additional resorts with steamboat lines along the other side of the river.

The city of Miami grew to be established on both sides of the river. Soon, other developing institutions and communities like newspaper houses, banks, churches, and stores also emerged.

However, the earlier days of its establishments were not easy and glorious.

There were challenges like huge fires which destroyed many business districts, then there was the Spanish-American War of 1898 in which violent troops raided the city's wealth and ill-treated the smaller communities, and lastly the yellow epidemic disease which brought some perilous days for the citizens.

In the end, the city conquered through all these hardships, and its trade, tourism, and agriculture which were its major economic endeavors brought glorious days. The city once again became hopeful with a promising future.
