Adam Noah Levine, born on March 18, 1979, is an American singer, popularly recognized as the lead singer of the famous pop-rock band, Maroon 5.

Adam Levine is not only a singer, he can also play around three instruments, act, and is also a well-known songwriter. Adam Levine has had a keen interest in music since childhood, and at the age of 15, he co-founded the rock band, Kara's Flowers, starting his musical career.

Adam Levine was born to Fred Levine and Patsy Levine in Los Angeles, California who separated when he was just seven years old. It was his love and dedication towards music that kept him focused.

He had money growing up. Right from his high school days, he practiced with his then bandmates.

Adam Levine credits his mother to a great extent for developing his taste in music. While growing up, Levine followed his mother's musical idols including the likes of The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, and Simon & Garfunkel. A lot of Adam Levine fans are unaware of this fact but when the band Kara's Flowers didn't work out, Adam Levine went to New York to study at Five Towns College. There, he worked as a writer's assistant on the CBS show 'Judging Amy'.

Moving on to a one-of-a-kind fact, Adam Levine was named as the 'Sexiest Man Alive' by People's Magazine in 2013 and it was the first time that a singer had been awarded this title.

Adam Levine's first band, Kara's Flowers, split up after the release of their first album which went by the name of 'The Fourth World'.

It was released in 1997 when Adam Levine was just 18 years old, and the entire band also appeared on an episode of 'Beverly Hills, 90210' to promote the album that did not become popular and commercially failed.

He has been a coach on 'The Voice' since the year 2011. Additionally, the winners of the ninth, fifth, and the very first season were from Adam Levine's team itself.

The American musician can be considered as an all-rounder as he is not only a singer but also an actor and has appeared on both national television, as well as, in movies. Adam Levine starred in the movie named 'Begin Again'.

Unlike many other artists, Adam was perhaps lucky to come across two of his future bandmates at Brentwood school itself.

They were focused on their musical style and about the future of their band Kara's Flowers, but after their failed first venture, they dismantled and quit. After some time, the band regrouped but they realized that they had to make some changes starting from rigidly sticking to their musical style of being a typical rock band.

They tried a number of genres and ultimately decided on groove-based music to be their thing.

Then came the inclusion of James Valentine, who would be the new guitarist of the band letting Adam Levine focus only on the singing. The band was renamed Maroon 5.

In 2002, Maroon 5 released its debut album 'Songs About Jane'.

In the album, there were songs which were written by Adam Levine dedicated to his ex-girlfriend. The album took some time to popularize and in a span of two years, it had sold almost 10 million copies.

By 2004, the album was the 10th best-selling album and the following year, Maroon 5 won their first Grammy award. Maroon 5 released their second studio album named 'It Won't Be Soon Before Long' in 2007.

In order to support and popularize the album, the band did a tour in six to seven places across the United States.

Some songs from the album were also nominated for the Grammy awards. In 2010, the band released its third album after 'Songs About Jane' and 'It Won't Be Soon Before Long', it was named 'Hands All Over'.

The album was released with high expectations but it couldn't deliver after the first three singles of the album did not quite work. The band then released a single named 'Moves like Jagger' which was regarded as a bold statement and worked as the savior of the band, peaking the Billboard chart.

The song was an instant hit all over the world.

In 2012, the club released their fourth album, 'Exposed' which was a massive hit, and continued the pattern they had followed in developing the songs in 'Exposed' in launching their fifth album in 2014 named 'V', pronounced as 'five'. He also played the role of Leo Morrison in the TV show 'American Horror Story: Asylum'.

Facts About Adam Levine's Childhood

Adam Levine did not quite have the best possible childhood. He lived in an unsettling environment early on in his life in Los Angeles.

His parents, Fredric Levine and Patsy Levine separated when he was merely seven years old. Adam Levine underwent some therapy sessions but remained focused on music.

Following the divorce of his parents, Levine stayed with his mother on the weekdays and went to his father on the weekends.

In respect of siblings, Levine has a younger brother named Michael, a couple of half-siblings named Liza Levine and Sam Levine, and a step-sister named Julia Bartolf Milne.

For early education, Levine attended Brentwood School in Los Angeles where he also met his future bandmates, Mickey Madden and Jesse Carmichael.

His first gig to earn some money was as a waiter at Johnny Rockets but Adam Levine just wasn't made for that kind of a task, and he was fired within just three hours due to messing up multiple orders.

The band Maroon 5 received a number of nominations and has won 50 awards in total to date. 'Harder to Breathe' was their first hit ever. Out of these awards, there are three Grammy awards as well in a total of 10 Grammy award nominations. The band also won three AMA awards out of 12 nominations.

Some of the other awards the band has won include an MTV Video Music Award, three People's Choice Awards, and eight Billboard Music Awards.

The Grammy awards that the band won are 'Best New Artist' in 2005 and twice the award of 'Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals' in 2006 and 2008 for 'This Love' and 'Makes Me Wonder', respectively.
