'Charlie And The Chocolate Factory' is a children's novel by the British author Roald Dahl published in 1964.
The book was adapted to a movie, 'Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory' in 1971 where the legendary Gene Wilder portrayed the character of Willy Wonka. Subsequently, Johnny Depp played the eccentric chocolatier character in the 2005 musical fantasy film 'Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.'
The story is about a poor and impoverished boy Charlie Bucket, who, along with four other children, receive the golden ticket to visit Willy Wonka's famous chocolate factory for a tour.
The factory is a wonderland of candies and confectioneries where all the children, except Charlie, give in to their impulses and are evicted from the tour in funny yet satirical ways.
Eventually, Charlie is the only one who remains and Willy Wonka tells him that the entire tour was planned to help him find an heir to his chocolate business. Due to his innate goodness, Charlie passes the test and is invited by Willy Wonka to live in the factory.
