National Telephone Day is celebrated all over the USA. It is a day to look back at history and appreciate the brilliant invention without which our lives would have been much different.

Everybody celebrates National Telephone Day. Who does not have a cell phone nowadays? From children to grownups, everyone is dependent on their phones to some extent. That's why this day deserves to be celebrated by everyone.

Invention Of Lover's Phone

The British physicist Robert Hooke invented the telephone made of tin cans. He named it the 'lovers' phone.

Approval Of Bell's Patent

Alexander Graham Bell invented telephones in 1976 along with many other inventors. Two of them were Antonio Meucci and Elisha Gray. But while their caveats were refused due to various reasons, Bell received this patent successfully and wrote his name in the pages of history.

Installation Of First Telephone Lines

On April 15, 1877, the first telephone lines were installed in Massachusetts so that people could call each other from Somerville to Boston. By 1880, there were about 50,000 phones in the USA.

The First Transcontinental Call

The first transcontinental call took place in 1915, between Bell and Watson. The former sitting in NYC called the latter who was in San Francisco. What they talked about on this call remained a secret.

100 Millionth Telephone

The 100 millionth telephone was installed in the USA, and to celebrate the event gold phones were issued to the President, the Governors, and the dignitaries.
