Their bite may result in some pain and swelling, and some of them can be quite poisonous. It looks similar to long-nosed mice, but they are not rodents. They have sharp teeth and are found across the world.

They are tiny in stature, more like mice, and are terrestrial creatures. They feed on nuts, seeds, worms, insects, and many other foods found in dense areas and vegetation. They also live in the snow, under snow, underground in the plain areas or mountain areas.

They have poor vision and tiny eyes. They are fiercely territorial and drive off anybody entering their territory and may come together only to mate.

They have the tendency to dig burrows to catch their prey or hide from predators. They breed more in summers and stop reproducing in winters or cold weather.

They are not petted because of their strong body odor. Did you know? Pygmy shrew is so small that it takes the title of smallest mammal in North America and the second smallest in the world.
