Minks are dark-colored, semiaquatic mammals that belong to the group of weasels, otters, and ferrets. They are mammals having thick, brown, and soft fur, for which people killed them in order to make expensive clothes.

There are two types of mink: the North American mink and the European mink. They have a long body, short tail, and short legs and weigh around 3.3 lb (1.5 kg).

The average height of the mink is between 12-20 in (30-50 cm). Minks are great swimmers and usually live near water sources. They are nocturnal animals and carnivorous in nature; mink feed on birds, insects, fishes, and other small mammals.

They are excellent diggers and live in tunnels to keep themselves away from predators such as foxes, owls, wolves, and coyotes. The European mink are endangered species, and they are on the edge of extinction.

Did you know? Mink also purr when they feel happy, just like cats.
