Ermines are also called weasels. They have white to brownish-gray fur, with a short tail and can stand on their hind limbs or back feet.

Around the late 19th century, ermines were introduced to New Zealand to control the population of rabbits but somehow, the little creatures started eating birds to the extent that they have become a danger to the native bird species of New Zealand.

During the 15th century, ermine fur, which was considered a luxury item, was used by the monarchs of Catholic origin for the cape. These short-tailed ermines are also called stoats.

The stoats have elongated necks far from the shoulders and the truck being cylindrical in shape. They eat rodents, insects, birds, fish, and shrews.
