The most common monkey species in the world is the rhesus monkey. Native to Asia, this animal has the broadest geographical range of all non-human primates. This animal lives in forests, grasslands, and even in urban areas.


Various physical characteristics of this primate include a brown or grey coat, pink face, and a long tail. An adult male stands nearly 21 in (53 cm) and weighs around 17 lb (7.7 kg).

Alternatively, the female has a smaller height of about 19 in (47 cm) and weighs approximately 12 lb (5.3 kg). Rhesus macaque is a diurnal primate, which means they are active at night. It is also both an arboreal and terrestrial animal.
