Stingrays are fish species, which are related to sharks. They look flat and have a wing-like physique on their body. They are a bunch of sea rays, with skeletons, which are made of cartilage.

They inhabit coastal and subtropical waters across the globe. Different subspecies of stingray inhabit different regions, depending on water temperature.

One subspecies is found in the warm water while the other sub species known as dasyatis is found in the deep ocean. River stingrays are found in fresh waters.

There are around 220 stingrays subspecies. Due to commercial fishing, which is unregulated at the moment, this species is threatened and is brought to the vulnerable category of extinction. The female stingrays send out electrical signals to the male stingrays which they sense for future copulation.

Stingrays have pairs of pectoral fins, which they use to move around and swim. They get most of the power to swim through their single tail fin which is as long as their body.
