People still love the mischievous comedy entertainer, 'The Mask' that was released 26 years ago in the United States.
The half-animated movie 'The Mask', directed by Charles Russell, was inspired by 'the Mask' comics published by Dark Horse Comi. Jim Carrey, who stunned in the lead role as Stanley Ipkiss, became the most successful comedian.
'The Mask', first released on 29 July 1994, amassed a staggering $351 million on a $23 million budget.
The movie was nominated for the best visual effects at the 67th Academy Awards. Jim Carrey was nominated for a Golden Globe.
After its success, the sequel 'Son of the Mask' was released in 2005 but it failed to outcharm the first movie.

'The Mask' film shows Stanley Ipkiss, an insecure bank clerk working at the local Edge City bank, disappointed in life, as he is regularly bullied by nearly everyone around, including his boss, landlady Mrs. Peeman, and car mechanics. His co-worker is his best friend Charlie Schumacher played by Richard Jeni.
On the other hand, gangster Dorian Tyrell, who owns the Coco Bongo nightclub, plots to topple his boss Niko and plans to send a charming singer Tina Carlyle into Stanley's bank to prepare for a robbery.
Stanley becomes attracted to her, and she seemingly reciprocates.
On a disappointing day, Stanley Ipkiss desperately looks over the harbor bridge until he finds a mask. Upon wearing it, he indulges in a comical rampage, humiliating several of his tormentors.
Stanley Ipkiss meets detective Lieutenant Kellaway and newspaper reporter Peggy Brandt who are investigating the Mask's activities. In pursuit of meeting Tina, Stanley encounters various thrilling events.
In the end, Tina and Stanley throw the mask back into the water, and Stanley gains enough confidence to be himself without the mask, learning a valuable lesson.
