Baby boomers are often called boomers and are the generation after the silent generation and before Gen X.

They are children born between 1946 and 1964. All of them are babies born after World War II when there was a boom.

The term boomer is also used outside the USA, but the reasons to call them that might differ. They are considered the children of the greatest generation or the silent generation and are mainly parents of millennials or late-gen X's.

They are sometimes the parents of older Generation Z people as well. Read some quotes involving the baby boomers in this article.

-Jack Bowman.

"We have been so successful in the past century at the art of living longer and staying alive that we have forgotten how to die. Too often we learn the hard way. As soon as the baby boomers pass pensionable age, their lesson will be harsher still."

-Terry Pratchett.

"I think that retiring the baby boomers is going to be one of the great challenges in America, that you cannot make fiscal sense out of the future of our children without taking on entitlements."

-Richard Lamm.

"Like lots of baby boomers, I was brought up on archaic anthropomorphism. Upstanding Christian dogs. Rabbits with family values. Because the ancient texts and pictures were sacred - Potter, Milne and the rest. Even concerned parents who knew Freud and Jung never saw the contradictions in feeding us on them."

-Peter York.

"We make artificial divisions everywhere: Democrats and Republicans, black and white, millennials and baby boomers. Even those of us who are against building walls find ourselves pointing accusing fingers at those wall-builders."

-Robert J. Waldinger.

"Like the 'little emperors' of one-child China, too many Boomers were taught early that the world was made (or saved) for their comfort and enjoyment. They behaved accordingly, with a self-indulgence that was wholly rational, given their situation."

-Anne Murray.

"Do you think we enjoy hearing about your brand-new million-dollar home when we can barely afford to eat Kraft Dinner sandwiches in our own grimy little shoe boxes and we're pushing thirty? A home you won in a genetic lottery, I might add, sheerly by dint of your having been born at the right time in history?

You'd last about ten minutes if you were my age these days."

-Douglas Coupland.

"And I apologize to all of you who are the same age as my grandchildren. And many of you reading this are the same age as my grandchildren. They, like you, are being royally shafted and lied to by our Baby Boomer corporations and government."

-Kurt Vonnegut Jr.

"Every generation builds on the work of the last, and pill or no pill, my generation could not have made the strides they have without all the work done by others. The same is true for future generations, although luckily for them the advancement of women is now snowballing."

-Jane Caro.

Funny Boomer Quotes

Hear some funny yet informative quotes on a baby boomer.

-Julie Walters.

"While I do occasionally order items on the Internet, it's hard to teach an old shopper new tricks. I'm convinced that the catalogue will eventually disappear, but not until the last baby boomers have kicked off their smelly Nikes and been buried in mulch."

-Rita Rudner.

"Every generation trash-talks younger generations. Baby boomers labeled Generation X a group of tattooed slackers and materialists; Generation Xers have branded millennials as iPhone-addicted brats."

-Neil Blumenthal.

"Now, do I think the baby boomers tend to be self-absorbed? I do."

-P. J. O'Rourke.

"And you know, the baby boomers are getting older, and those off-the-rack clothes are just not fitting right any longer, and so, tailor-made suits are coming back into fashion."

-Amy Irving.

-Billy Bob Thornton.

"The baby boomers have dropped the ball on their burden of responsibility."

-Meghan McCain.

"Not surprisingly, my parents' generation did everything they could to make life easier for their own children. Was that good for us? I wonder. It certainly didn't do us any good from a cultural point of view. I'm struck by how few boomers have embraced adult culture in middle age."

-Terry Teachout.

"The Boomers will eventually have to accept that it is not possible to stay forever young or to stop aging. But it is possible, by committing to show up for others in community after community, to earn a measure of immortality."

Baby Boomer Quotes

Here are some of the best quotes involving Baby Boomers.

"The baby boomers' politics have covered a wide band of silliness, from the Weather Underground to the Timothy McVeigh types. The great majority of us are well in the middle of that spectrum, but still, there's been both leftie silliness and right-wing silliness."

-P. J. O'Rourke.

-Shane Smith.

"The language of freedom-fighting was so co-opted by the baby boomers in order to express their now-hopelessly compromised ideologies that no other generation could emulate it without a smirk. This has created an apathetic generation in the West, with young people no longer distinguishing between the old order and the new."

-Romola Garai.

"We've been lucky because quite a few young people keep coming to see us play. We couldn't tour as much as we do if we could only count on the baby boomers."

-Douglas R. Oberhelman.

"Throughout the Great Recession of 2008, the average 401(k) balance lost anywhere from 25 to 40 percent of value.
