The 2021 American superhero movie 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage' stars Venom from Sony.
Woody Harrelson played the character of Carnage; this is the origin story of that hero. It has been considered one of Sony's strongest and most complex characters.
Originally known as Cletus Kasady, the serial killer changed his name to Carnage after uniting with Venom's progeny during a jailbreak. His psychotic tendencies were amplified by the symbiote, making him less mentally stable than before and hence more deadly. It's noteworthy that Carnage, unlike Venom, refers to himself as "I" rather than "We", as the symbiote has truly blended with Kasady's bloodstream.
It is the second movie in Spider-Man Universe by Sony and the follow-up to 'Venom', and was released by Sony Pictures in 2018. Kelly Marcel authored the screenplay for the movie with Tom Hardy, who plays Eddie Brock and Venom, with Naomie Harris, Stephen Graham, Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, and Woody Harrelson. Andy Serkis was the director. In the movie, Cletus Kasady (Harrelson), a serial killer, is forced to become the host of Venom's Carnage branch, forcing Brock and the extraterrestrial symbiote Venom to confront him.
Sony planned 'Venom' to represent the beginning of a new shared universe, and preparations for a sequel started even as the first movie was being made. As Kasady at the conclusion of Venom, Harrelson was hired with the idea that he would play the antagonist Carnage in the follow-up. Hardy and Harrelson were confirmed to return, along with Marcel serving as the sequel's writer, and official production got underway in January 2019. From November 2019 through February 2020, Leavesden Studios in England served as the location for filming, with additional shooting taking place there in February. The release date was set for April 2020. On September 14, 2021, 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage' had its London premiere. On October 1, 2021, the film was theatrically distributed in the US.
The movie was a box office hit, earning more than $506 million globally despite making less than its forerunner. This made it the seventh-highest-grossing film of 2021. Critics gave it varying ratings, although most thought it was an upgrade over the original. The performances, action scenes, and mid-credit scenes of the movie won praise.
There will be a third Venom movie. Hardy acknowledged in August 2018 that he had agreed to take part as a lead in the third Venom movie.
