'Godzilla' is referred to as the king of the monsters due to its incredible giant size.
Godzilla is a giant, deadly, ancient sea creature awakened from the depths of the earth and empowered by nuclear radiation. It was conceived as a metaphor for atomic weapons.
The story of the original 'Godzilla' is about this giant monster created due to human error and shows us what happens when man interferes with God-created world. Paleontologist Professor Kyôhei Yamane discovers the devastation on the Japanese seashore was due to a 164-foot tall monster whom the natives call Gojira.
They find out that this Gojira Godzilla is an age-old monster awakened now due to man's nuclear testing.
Now, this king of the monsters begins to attack Tokyo city. The remaining story revolves around how Japanese people put up their best fight and try to overpower this age-old creature and save the world.
Many movies were made on Godzilla after the original one. 'Godzilla' is inspired by the fictional Rhedosaurus character created in the film 'The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms'. Godzilla is designed as an amphibious reptilian monster.
