Harry S Truman served as the 33rd President of the USA from 1945 to 1953.
He is known for implementing the Marshall Plan for the rebuilding of the economy of Western Europe. He also established the Truman Doctrine and NATO aimed at containing the Communist expansion.
Sadly, he suffered from illnesses throughout his life. At the age of 88, he was hospitalized for lung congestion, kidney blockages, heart irregularity, and digestive system failure. He died in Kansas City on December 26, 1972.
