Nathan Donald Diaz is a professional mixed martial artist and fighter from Stockton.
He was born and raised in Stockton, California, and attended Tokay High School. He started learning martial arts with his brother Nick when he was 11 years old.
He has a contract with the UFC at the moment. In the past, he has fought in events for Pancrase, Strikeforce, and World Extreme Cagefighting.
After winning The Ultimate Fighter 5 in 2011, he competed in the UFC. With 15 total UFC bonus awards, Diaz shares a tie for third place with Joe Lauzon. He is the younger brother of Nick Diaz. Nick Diaz was a welterweight champion of Strikeforce, the WEC, and the IFC.
On July 20, 2002, at the age of 17, Diaz engaged in a bare-knuckle MMA match against Robert Limon before beginning his professional MMA career. After making his official MMA debut, Diaz mostly contested for WEC.
A black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu was ultimately awarded to Diaz by Cesar Gracie after numerous years of practice. He is a third-degree black belt.
On September 24, 2011, at UFC 135 Takanori Gomi was beaten by Diaz by armbar submission in the first frame, for which he earned Submission of the Night honors. Gray Maynard in The Ultimate Fighter: Team Rousey vs. Team Tate Finale, Donald Cerrone in UFC 141, and Takanori Gomi in UFC 135 are just a few of the outstanding fighters that are Diaz Defeated.
On May 5, 2012, Diaz and Miller squared off at UFC on Fox 3. Diaz received his sixth Entry of the Night Bonus Award thanks to the submission. He then halted in preparation for his first MMA match.
He defeated Jorge Masvidal in the month of November 2019 Fight of the Month in MMA.
