'Princess Mononoke' is a not-so-traditional Studio Ghibli movie that came out in 1997.

The film revolves around a girl who was brought up by wolves in a forest. She tries to save her forest from humans who are trying to destroy it.

The message of the movie is explained in words of the animator of the movie himself: "There cannot be a happy ending to the fight between the raging gods and humans. However, even in the middle of hatred and killings, there are things worth living for."

As per his quote, the story does not have a traditional happy ending. The antagonists do realize their mistake but every issue is not solved by the end of the movie.

The movie gives us a meaningful lesson and many great characters, including San, Prince Ashitaka, Lady Eboshi, Moro, Jigo, and more. Read up on the quotes below to learn more about the movie.
