'The Last Unicorn' is a fantasy novel written by Peter S. Beagle, published in 1968.

The story is about a beautiful unicorn who takes up the quest of finding others of her kind. The protagonist goes through a long journey where she is captured, freed, turned into a woman, loved, and achieves the freedom of all the other unicorns too.

Everything is astoundingly magical in this book, as you read how the unicorn will say she will remember men are fairy tales in books written by rabbits, and so on.

'The Last Unicorn' book is based on different themes like loss of enchantment, one's limit of perception, a mission to recoup one's race, and the toil of retaining one's identity.

The most important motif of this novel is the love that is transitory. The book gained popularity and was soon adapted into a movie in the year 1982.
