The famous American comedy television show, 'The Andy Griffith Show', was first aired on 3 October 1960.

The show has 249 episodes compiled together into five solid seasons famous worldwide and is a comedy sitcom. The show made its last appearance on TV screens on 1 April 1968.

The show is basically about a slow-paced, happy-go-lucky town of Mayberry, the home of a sheriff named Andy (the protagonist of the story). Sheriff Andy is loved by all and is a 'public's man' for his precise use of law and efficient case-solving skills. However, problems start appearing in Andy's life (in a humorous way) when Barney Fife, who is supposedly Andy's cousin, enters Andy's professional life as his deputy sheriff working under him. As the story unfolds, it only gets funnier to watch the two pulling each other's legs along with Barney adding a different tincture of humor all along.

Keeping the plot in mind, Barney Fife is one hell of a humorous character. He is a slow-paced deputy sheriff who tries to present himself as a knowledgeable man, continually trying to impress the crowd around. One of the major sources of comedy in this show is Barney's incompetence with firearms; as a result of which he is only allowed to carry around a 4-inch Colt Official Police Revolver (unloaded) with his one bullet kept in his shirt pocket.

Talking about Barney's personal life, Barney's middle name is still a point of mystery as some claim the letter 'P' to be his middle name, while others think it stands for something, but we don't know what. Therefore Barney Fife's actual middle name or the full-form of P remains unknown. Turning to his love life, it comes to one's knowledge that Barney Fife was married to Thelma Lou in the reunion Movie, 'Return To Mayberry', how lovely?
