April 27 is celebrated to honor the U.S. Marines who were called the Devil Dogs, which is picked up from a German word. The devilish treat also has a rich history associated with it.
Although there are no particular traditions followed by people since it is not an official holiday, many people enjoy this snack cake of two layers and might also try baking it. On April 27, Americans also honor the U.S. Marines that fought courageously during the First World War. This family tradition started by Sean Sobel is still observed in many parts of the U.S.
You can celebrate this day by making your own cake with two elongated buns and a marshmallow in between. This is also the perfect day to augment your knowledge of the history of the U.S. Marines and how they fought for their country with bravery. Although it is not an official holiday, many people visit local bakeries and shops that still make this cake and indulge in its rich cream.
The American soldiers of the U.S. Marine Corps were called Devil Dogs because of the exceptional bravery they showed during the First World War. The German soldiers gave this nickname to them.
Devil Dog was the nickname given to the American soldiers of World War I, which was used in the Marine recruiting poster after the Battle of Belleau Wood as well. Later, Drake's Cakes introduced snack cakes by this name in 1926.
This day is celebrated to honor the courageous members of the U.S. Marine Corps who fought valiantly in World War I. The Devil Dog cake was introduced after the Battle of Belleau Wood.
