Set in the heart of London’s spectacular Royal Park is one of the oldest open-air theatres in Britain. The Regent’s Park Theatre has been staging some of London’s most sought-after plays for years, including Little Shop Of Horrors, Jesus Christ Superstar and To Kill A Mockingbird as well as many acclaimed Shakespeare productions.

With one of the largest auditoriums in the city, Regent’s Park holds one of the best theatres in London to do justice to the words of William Shakespeare, and Romeo and Juliet is no exception.

This world-famous, heartbreaking story of two young lovers cruelly separated by the fate of their families is one of the greatest love stories of all time.

You won’t help but be enticed into the romance and drama at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, where nature’s unpredictable and enchanting backdrop really make the magic come alive. Expect mesmerising lights, stunning sets and an atmosphere like no other in Regent’s Park's beautifully scenic setting.

Directed by UK Theatre Award-nominee Kimberley Sykes, known for her Royal Shakespeare Company plays such as A Midsummer Night's Dream, this staging of Romeo and Juliet is set to be one to remember.

What to know before you go

• This show is recommended for ages 12 and up. Children under the age of four are not allowed into the venue.
• The auditorium and stage are completely uncovered at Regent’s Park’s Open Air Theatre. In the event of rain, shows may be cancelled and this will be announced at the venue at the start time. Tickets are non-refundable in this instance but they may be exchanged for another performance. Please note that occasionally shows may need to be paused and restarted due to weather.
• Gates to the theatre grounds open 90 minutes before the performance starts and there are many food and drinks outlets for you to enjoy in this time, including the Covered Dining restaurant, Summer Cafe, and The Grill. Some of these only offer pre-ordered food, and this will be available no matter what the weather is like on the day and cannot be refunded. Food service will stop 15 minutes before the performance starts, but snacks and beverages will be available during the interval.
• You are welcome to bring your own picnic to enjoy on the lawn, providing that no sharp knives or items bigger than 36cm x 30cm x 50cm are taken into the auditorium. Hot food purchased elsewhere cannot be brought onto the premises.
• Regent’s Park Theatre offers access seating on Row J, which has level access and offers a number of wheelchair spots. Some BSL interpreted, audio-described and captioned performances will be available for Romeo and Juliet. Hearing and guide dogs are welcome at the Regent’s theatre.
• The venue offers gender-neutral and accessible toilets on site, as well as water bottle refill stations, bike racks and a merchandise shop.

Getting there

• Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre is located in the Inner Circle of the Regent's Park. Entry to the box office is via Queen Mary’s Garden within the park.
• Parking is free within the Inner Circle, Outer Circle and on Chester Road after 6.30pm, but it is Pay and Display at all other times and can get very busy.
• The theatre is a 10-minute walk from Baker Street Tube station, serving the Bakerloo, Circle, Hammersmith and City, Jubilee and Metropolitan lines. Regent’s Park Station also serves the Bakerloo Line.
• Marylebone is the closest train station, a 15-minute walk to the West.
• Buses 13, 18, 27, 30, 74, 82, 113, 139, 189 and 274 stop nearby on Baker Street.
