The word porcupine derives from the French term porc d'épine, which translates to ‘quill pig’. Porcupines are herbivores, and their diet includes plants, leaves, twigs, and tree barks. They are even good tree climbers.


The major population of porcupines is mostly found in North America, Asia, Europe, and the African subcontinent. There are over 24 different kinds of porcupines.
