Cobra is the name of the group of elapid snakes. They are a member of the Elapidae family and Serpentes suborder.

They are best recognized for their erect fangs. They are generally found in Africa, Asia, Australia, and parts of the Pacific and the Indian Ocean. They are usually spotted in rainforests, rivers, grasslands and mangrove swamps.

They have an average life expectancy of around 30 years. They generally have a length of approximately 7.1 in (18 cm).
