names for different kinds of penguins

Despite being able to swim, the penguin is, according to National Geographic, a flightless seabird.

There is a debate about the different kinds of penguins. National Geographic claims that 18 species exist, while other organizations claim that this is an overestimation.

Most penguins reside in the Southern Hemisphere. Only certain species live in Antarctica, such as the Emperor.  One of the types of penguin, the Galapagos, lives on the Galapagos Islands. Penguins enjoy both land and water in their natural environments and in the local zoo within major cities.

Penguin breeding takes place throughout March and April and the incubation period lasts one to two months. The male and female birds share this responsibility, carrying their egg atop their feet. The end-result is a baby chick.
