Yellow Bass is also known as Morone mississippiensis scientifically. They belong to the Moronidae family.

It is found in slow-moving river basins, freshwater, tributary streams, lakes, or man-made reservoirs in the Mississippi River from Minnesota to Louisiana and is sometimes found in the Trinity River and Tennessee rivers too. It is found in areas with dense vegetation and low turbidity. These are yellowish silver in color.

The backs are olive green or gray in color and the underneath is white or yellow. The striped part is broken and offset or jagged in the middle.

The other members like the white bass and the striped bass are considered similar in appearance but there exist quite distinguishing features. The spawning takes place during late March and early June. The female lays eggs when the range of water temperature is appropriate.
