Newfypoos are a first-generation designer dog that is a large-sized mixed breed of the elegant Poodle and the sweet Newfoundland dog breeds. This mixed breed can have many names such as Newfydoodle, Newfoundland-Poodle mix, Newfoundlandoodle, Newfidoo, Poodoundland, and Newdle, however, their official name is Newfypoo! These crossbreeds are unpredictable in terms of which parent breeds they will favor genetically, but in most cases, these purebred dogs' offspring grow up to be highly intelligent, friendly, and gentle dogs.
This designer dog varies in appearance, similar to other crossbred dogs, as some are large and heavy and some are slim and light. A Newfypoo dog requires extensive grooming every day as its oily thick curly coat can get dirty and tangled easily. These dog breeds are not yet recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC), as they often do not recognize hybrid dogs.
If you liked these facts about Newfypoo dogs, then you'll surely like these facts about Maltipom dogs and the Shiba Inu Siberian Husky mix too!
The Newfypoo dog is one of the most elegant, friendly, loving, extroverted, protective, and low-shedding crossbred dogs. Newfypoos are easy to train as this dog breed is always eager to please its masters. Newfypoos get their furry appearance from their parents, hence their appearance may vary. Some have a slightly square-shaped body with a thin head and narrow muzzle and some are bulky and deep muzzled gentle giants. These large-sized dogs are very active and need a lot of exercise, so they need large houses with yards or plenty of open space.
The Newfypoo belongs to the mammal class of animals. The presence of mammary glands to feed their young, three ear bones, fur or hair, and a neocortex (region of the brain) are what qualifies the Newfypoo as mammals. The Newfypoo belongs to the genus Canis of the dog family Canidae.
An accurate number of Newfypoos is impossible to pinpoint as they were introduced 15-20 years ago and have been domesticated all around the world. Breeders contribute to a large number of new additions to this mixed breed of the Poodle and the Newfoundland by breeding them as pets.
The origin of Newfypoo is unknown. They are a new breed that some describe as a mongrel from the United States that was first discovered between 15-20 years ago.
Newfypoos are both indoor and outdoor animals and therefore they are a great match for households with children, given that they are properly supervised. They love to play and, due to their size, these species are perfect for a busy household.
The Newfypoo is a very friendly species. They live with people and do not like to stay alone. They are often found to be following their owners and keeping their family members protected from intruders. They are one of the best companion dogs for individuals and families.
The average Newfypoo lifespan mostly depends on its activities, diet, and care. These breeds can live up to eight to 12 years. They are prone to many health issues such as cherry eye, canine hip dysplasia, progressive retinal atrophy, subvalvular aortic stenosis, sebaceous adenitis, and gastric dilation volvulus, so their lifespan might get shortened.
The Newfypoo reaches adolescence when it is between six and seven months old and it reaches sexual maturity when it is 10 months old. As they are one of the largest breeds of mixed dogs, in some cases, their sexual maturity can be delayed up to two years of age. Newfypoo females have a gestation period of 63 days after mating.
Currently, the IUCN Red List has not listed the Newfypoo mix breed as a population that is of any concern. It is believed that this hybrid, highly intelligent, high energy, family-loving dog will continue to exist for a long time as long as their parent breeds, the Poodle and the Newfoundland can be found all over the world in a good and healthy population.
This Poodle-Newfoundland mix has recently become popular as a pet. Their demand all over the world has allowed breeders to breed them at a high rate, so their population will keep increasing and they won't be extinct or close to extinction any time soon.
Newfypoos are hybrid dogs with a unique appearance that is based on the parent breeds. Some acquire a narrow muzzle similar to the Poodle and some acquire a big square-shaped muzzle like the Newfoundland. This even might be a difference that can be seen amongst littermates. Due to this, there is no set standard for this breed, as is the common nature of a designer dog.
Despite their low shedding wavy coat, the grooming process for these dogs can be a little challenging due to their water-repellant, thick, oily, and curly coat. This dog comes in many different hues such as black, white, brown, gray, and many others depending on the color of their parents' coat colors.

A Newfypoo is cute to the core! This dog breed is full of energy and loves to run and play around with its owners. They are always looking for attention and will do all sorts of cute antics to get attention from their owners. Newfypoo puppies are cuter than adults and this dog will make you stare at its curly and oily fur coat in awe!
Newfypoos communicate through vocal and visual methods. Auditory or vocal communication includes barking, growling, whining, whimpering, panting, and sighing. Visual communication includes licking, sniffing, positioning its tail and ear, gazing at each other, and using facial expressions. They also communicate through scents and pheromones.
The Newfypoo is a large-sized mixed Poodle and Newfoundland breed. A Newfypoo can grow up to a shoulder height of 22-30 in (55.8-76.2 cm). It stands taller than the parent standard Poodle which grows to a height of 17.7-23.6 in (45-60 cm).
Unfortunately, an accurate speed of the Newfypoo has not yet been recorded, but these species is extremely agile and has quick reflexes.
The Newfypoo is considered a large-size dog and can reach a weight between 70-150 lb (31.7-68 kg). A male Newfypoo is larger in size as compared to females.
Newfypoos share the same name as all other dog species do for a male and female. Males are called 'dogs' and females are called 'bitches'.
A baby Newfypoo is called a puppy. A Poodle-Newfoundland mix puppy will be an expressive dog and taking care of them might not be easy for someone who is a novice, as they require extensive grooming due to their curvy and oily coat. So getting a Newfepoo puppy will take some thinking and preparation.
Newfypoo puppies are born in a litter of four to six and these puppies are full of energy and are loving towards their family. They are born with green or blue eyes, which eventually become brown in color as they grow.
Newfypoos are considered heavy eaters as they are large-sized dogs. They prefer high-quality dry dog food. You can give this dog anywhere from four and a half to six cups of dry food which should be divided into two to three mealtimes a day. Only dry dog food should be provided to them after they are four months old and human food should never be given to a Newfypoo puppy.
No, Newfypoos are not slobbery. In fact, they are the perfect example of a breed of dogs that drools very little. A small amount of drooling from this dog is simply an unintended flow of saliva, and while it can be completely normal among many breeds of dogs, sometimes it could also indicate a health concern. If you are someone who typically does not like animals who drool or leave sweaty paw prints all over your clothes, then the Newfypoo dog is perfect for you as they have minimal drool.
The Newfypoo is known for its high intelligence and its protective and loving nature. These Newfoundland and Poodle mixed dog breeds are docile, friendly, even-tempered, and are always eager to please everyone. They can also get along with other house pets if they are socialized properly. The loyalty of a Newfypoo is very high and they will always keep a protective eye towards their family members. These large-sized dogs are perfect for families with children and houses with yards. They are a good companion for individuals and families alike.
Usually, these dogs are not aggressive but if they are threatened by any intruders they might corner the intruders bravely. As they are highly intelligent, these dogs can easily learn new tricks with proper and repetitive training.
Newfypoos requires daily exercise, such as walks, hikes, and a huge amount of playtime. These exercises will keep this dog physically and mentally fit. This dog breed is easy to train as they are capable of learning things comfortably. Newfypoos also love water and enjoy swimming, but they are not suited for long-distance running.
Newfypoos have water repellant natural oils in their coat which protects them, and bathing them too often may clean out this protective oil. The Newfypoo coat should be combed regularly. Once a month, they need to be professionally bathed and blown out. As their long wavy coat keeps growing and becomes a nuisance for the dog, it needs to be trimmed every three to four months.
Newfypoos have a calm temperament and are excellent with young children. They can easily grow fond of the child in a house, and can be described as a gentle giant!
One major problem with Newfypoos is separation anxiety. They require companions throughout the day as this dog does not like to stay alone in houses.
The lifespan of Newfypoo is lesser when compared to the parent breed Poodle, which is more than 12 years.
The Newfypoo is a calm and gentle dog that rarely barks. They do not disturb their owners by barking all day, but they will bark loudly to scare off intruders if they detect any.
The coat of the Newfypoo sheds very little but it requires daily grooming because the hair around their eyes can easily get in their way and their beard also needs daily grooming. This breed is one of the original hypoallergenic dogs, making them suitable for those with allergies. The Chinese crested dog, the Bedlington terrier, and the Bichon Frise are dog breeds that are considered to have many allergy issues. Urine-derived proteins and airborne saliva are the major sources of pet dander.
