We've gathered some amazing facts about the magical world of Narnia from the first book in the series - 'The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe.' So buckle up and get ready for a wild ride!

Facts About Narnia

'The Lion, The Witch And the Wardrobe' is considered a classic children’s novel by many. It was written by C.S Lewis and published in 1950 as part of 'The Chronicles Of Narnia' series.

Many readers were inspired to write their own stories because they admired how well the author told his story through this book which has now been adapted into plays, movies, and video games.

Though 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' is the first book to be published in the series, chronologically 'The Magician's Nephew' is the first book and shows the creation of the magical land of Narnia.

The order the books must be read in is 'The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe,' 'Prince Caspian,' 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,' 'The Silver Chair,' 'The Horse And His Boy', 'The Magicians Nephew' and 'The Last Battle.'

We would have only gotten the first book in the series if it wasn't for Lewis's friendand fellow author Roger Lancelyn Green! He convinced Lewis to expand the story of Narnia, which led him to write the further six books! He is incidentally also the one who came up with the title 'The Chronicles of Narnia.'

Though Disney was originally supposed to make seven movies, only three of them have been made, with the rights of the movies now being bought by Netflix- who is aiming to reboot the series with 'The Silver Chair.'

The 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' was a commercial success and made $700 million at the box office! It was followed by 'Prince Caspian' in 2008 and 'The Voyage of The Dawn Treader' in 2010- with Ben Barnes playing Prince Caspian.

The book 'The Last Battle' won a Carnegie award- which is the highest-ranking award in the field of children's literature!

Facts About Aslan

Aslan is the lion who was sent by the Great Emperor beyond the Eastern Seas to Narnia. He is revealed to be the true King of Narnia and all creatures in it.

He is the only character who is a major protagonist in all seven books in the series.

Aslan is named after the Turkish word for 'lion'!

Aslan is a powerful creature but also gentle and wise. He has a deep love for all creation and will do anything to protect those he cares for.

One of Aslan's most famous traits is his resurrection power - he can bring people back to life even after they have died.

Although he sometimes seems harsh, Aslan always has good intentions behind his actions. The thing he strives for the most is for everyone to come to know him and live in peace and joy.

Aslan is a symbol of hope, courage, and redemption. He represents the best aspects of humanity and shows that no matter how dark things may seem, there is always a light shining at the end of the tunnel.

It is believed that Aslan represents Jesus Christ, and the whole series is a Christian allegory- which makes sense as he dies but then comes back to life later on in order for Narnia’s salvation from evil powers such as those held by Jadis.

Facts About The White Witch

The White Witch is a powerful and evil character from the Narnia book series by C.S. Lewis. Here are some interesting facts about her:

The White Witch was born over 900 years ago, making her one of the oldest characters in the series.

Jadis was born to an ancient and powerful family that ruled the land of Charn. When her sister, who was the rightful heir to the throne, married and had a child, Jadis became jealous. She destroyed her sister's kingdom out of spite and took control of herself.

Her name, Jadis, means 'witch' in Persian.

She seized control of Narnia after Edmund Pevensie betrayed his siblings and helped her to capture them.

The White Witch has magical powers that allow her to freeze people and objects by turning them into stone, creating spells and potions, and casting the land into never-ending winter.

She rules over Narnia with an iron fist, punishing anyone who dares to defy her or opposes her reign.

The Witch is known to be 7ft (2.1 m) tall and has skin as white as paper- which happened when she consumed the fruit of eternal life.

She was famously portrayed by British actress Tilda Swinton in the 2005 Disney adaptation 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe.'

Despite being evil, the White Witch is a complex and interesting character. She is cunning and manipulative but also has moments of kindness and compassion.

She is a tragic figure who has suffered many losses and is driven by her desire to never again go through the pain of losing anyone else.

Facts About Lucy, Susan, Edmund And Peter

The book is set in '40s England during World War Two and was written by C.S Lewis as a means of escape from the horrors that he experienced during this time period (such as death).

He wanted children to be able to enjoy reading about magic instead of worrying about their safety or future prospects for life due to war’s effects on society at large.

The four protagonists of the book, the Pevensie siblings, are children living during this time of war.

The original names of the Pevensie siblings were Rose, Peter, Martin, and Ann.

The character of Lucy, the youngest sibling, was based on C.S. Lewis's goddaughter- Lucy Barfield. In fact, he began writing the books in an effort to get his goddaughter to read more fairy tales!

Lucy was the first sibling to enter the magical world of Narnia through the wardrobe in the professor's house.

Edmund betrays his siblings to the Snow Queen for a sweet called Turkish delight- which he craves for as being able to eat anything sweet or indulgent during the time of war in England was extremely difficult. People had to ration their food, and their choices were not always great.

The siblings are played by Georgie Henley (Lucy), Anna Popplewell (Susan), William Moseley (Peter), and Skandar Keynes (Edmund) in the 2005 film adaptation.

Other Facts

The story itself was inspired by an image Lewis conjured up when he was 16- of a faun carrying parcels and an umbrella passing through a snowy wood. This is most likely who the faun Mr. Tumnus is based on- who would become Lucy's first friend in Narnia.

James McAvoy played Tumnus in the movies, and his performance was a fan-favorite!

The last book the Pevensie siblings appear in is 'The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,' in which they travel on a ship with Prince Caspian to track down seven lords who were exiled from the magical land by Caspian's uncle.
