History And Timeline

Unfortunately, we have no concrete record stating the history of the game. We don’t know who invented the game or who played it first.

It’s believed that a group of children took tin lids that were thrown targeting circular basins dug in sand. This sport, which began from the playground of Bladwoth Elementary School in Saskatchewan, Canada, is believed to be the predecessor of disc golf. It has been gaining popularity all over the globe.

Kevin Donnelly, who hailed from Newsport Beach, California, introduced street frisbee golf to the world in 1959, which opened the gateway to more disc golf tournaments.

George Sappenfield, a recreational counselor from Fresno State University, got inspired by the idea of playing disc golf with frisbees in 1965.
