Apple Butter Nutrition Facts: Health Benefits And Calories Revealed

Apple butter is a condiment produced from cooked and caramelized apples and sugar.

It can be used as toppings on pastries and toast or as a replacement for jellies, jams, and butter. Apple butter has a high sugar content but no fat at all.

The nutritional value of apple butter varies depending on the recipe used to make it. People add more than the two standard ingredients to make it more flavorful and healthy.

Mostly, consumers are on the lookout for the amount of sugar and carbohydrates present in the butter. Apple butter does not fulfill the iron requirements of the body at all.

Apart from iron, the requirements for calcium, protein, vitamin B, vitamin A, and vitamin C are also not satisfied. The daily diet calorie needs of the body cannot be satisfied by apple butter, not even to some extent. People often question the percentage of nutrients available in each serving of apple butter.

Can it help in fulfilling the daily values of nutrients or not? The nutritional values and benefits of apple butter are mentioned in this article.

Apple Butter Preparation Method

Different types of apples can be used to make apple butter. You can choose the type of apple depending on your taste and where you live.

The type of apple will influence the outcome of your apple butter and its taste and sweetness. You can go with mellow and sweet apples like Pink Lady apples and Braeburn apples.

The cooking time for apple butter takes quite a lot, so you would like to use those apples that are already very soft and can break down easily and quickly to save your time and energy. Apples that break down easily also have the creamiest texture, which makes the apple butter more delicious.

There is one variety of apples called Granny Smith Apples, which is way too hard and tart to use for butter. This type of apple takes a lot of time to break down.

and sometimes, they will just break down into chunks, which is not even butter. Other varieties, like the Golden Delicious and Fuji, are good choices for butter.

Making apple butter at home is slightly complex, yet it is worth the wait. You will need 10 apples (not peeled), one-fourth cup of water, two cups of unsweetened apple juice, and one tbsp.

cinnamon, one-fourth tsp of pure vanilla extract, one-fourth tsp of ground nutmeg, one-fourth cup of apple cider vinegar, one teaspoon lemon juice, one-fourth tsp of ground cloves, and one-fourth tsp of ground ginger.

Firstly, place the apples in a slow cooker and pour water, lemon juice, and apple cider vinegar over them. Now add spices and apple juice. Stir the ingredients now with a large spoon.

Cover the pot and keep the flame low to cook it for 15 hours. Remember to stir the mixture after intervals to avoid stickiness. By this time, the apples will be soft, and you can turn them off and let them sit for 30 minutes.

Now blend this mixture until it smoothens completely and attains a certain thickness. Wait to transfer the mixture into the containers immediately; let it cool for hours before transferring. Your homemade apple butter is ready after cooling.

Apple Butter Vs. Peanut Butter Differences And Benefits

Most people use both apple butter and peanut butter with bread, and that is the only point of similarity between them. While apple butter is rich in sugar and spices, peanut butter is just roasted peanuts and is naturally not sweet. They contain added sweeteners to make them sweet.

People with diabetes should not consume apple butter at all because of its very high sugar content. Natural peanut butter is a good fit for these people. Apple butter does not have much protein content.

The color of apple butter is browner than peanut butter. It is also more sticky than peanut butter. Peanut butter is opaque and has a variable consistency.

Peanut butter is naturally very thick, but you can find various types of thickness in stores. Apple butter does not have an impressive nutrient profile compared to peanut butter.

While satisfying nearly no needs in the body, peanut butter is rich in many nutrients. It provides protein, vitamins, minerals, and magnesium, satisfying the calorie requirements in your daily diet. The quantity of total fat, saturated fat, and protein is much higher in peanut butter than that required daily by your body.

Apple Butter Health Benefits

One serving of this butter has just 1% iron, riboflavin, vitamin C, vitamin B6, and magnesium of the recommended daily value. Apple butter has 3% copper, which the body needs every day. Apple Butter Nutritional Profile Per Serving
