Born on 9 November, 1922, Dorothy Jean Dandridge was an acclaimed African-American actress, singer, and dancer.

Dorothy Dandridge was a Hollywood star, there is no doubt about it, who could act, dance and sing. She is perhaps the most renowned actress to be nominated for an Academy award for Best Actress, as the first African-American, for her performance in the 1954 film 'Carmen Jones'.
