The character of Hermione Granger was created by author J. K. Rowling.

Hermione's first appearance was in 'Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone' published in 1997. Subsequently, she appears as one of the main characters in all successive books and the movies.

Hermione Granger is a Muggle-born witch who meets Harry and Ron for the first time aboard the Hogwarts Express. Even though she initially comes across as a snob to the boys, Hermione soon becomes an inseparable part of the famous trio.

In fact, Ron and Hermione seem to have a crush on each other throughout the entire story-line although it's never explicitly said. Being a gifted student with a brilliant academic mind, Hermione Granger is the smartest witch we all adore!
