Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway in Boston

Rose Kennedy was the lady who led the Kennedy family to great success politically, making her a prominent figure in American history.

Born on 22 July 1890, Rose was part of an already politically involved family as her father John Fitzgerald was the mayor of Boston. She gained a lot of exposure tagging along with her father on his campaigns.

Rose was sent to the Netherlands to finish her schooling and when she got back to the US, she fell in love with Joseph P. Kennedy. Despite her father's disapproval of their relationship, they continued to meet each other secretly and eventually married.

In 1938, Joseph Kennedy was declared the ambassador of Great Britain by President Roosevelt. Rose continued to provide the necessary education to her children in order to accustom them to the life of politics.

She promoted the political presence of her three sons, Robert, Ted, and John Kennedy using her political ties from her father's days and some that she gained after her marriage.

Although her family achieved a lot of success politically over the years, John and Robert's assassination took a toll on her life. She distracted herself by being an active campaigner, raising funds for various causes, and taking part in activism, all while taking care of her family.

Her commitment to her family is what she was most famously known for. Rose Kennedy died on 22 January 1995, at the age of 104.

Let's follow through with her life of determination with these inspirational quotes. Once done, be sure to check out our Jackie Kennedy Quotes and Robert Kennedy Quotes.
