Kids who like coloring and real-life stories will love these free printable bear face coloring pages. One such real-life story is the story of “The Teddy Bear’.

On 14 November 1902, the President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, was on a bear hunting trip. Theodore was the only person in his hunting group who had not located even a single bear.

Holt Collier, one of the hunters, had cornered and tied up a black bear to a willow tree. Roosevelt was then called and asked to shoot the bear, which he denied as he considered it to be unsportsmanlike.

This encounter of Roosevelt spread like wildfire throughout the country.

Morris Michtom, who was a candy shop owner in Brooklyn came up with the idea to create a stuffed toy bear dedicated to President Roosevelt, and he named it ‘Teddy Bear’. This helpful sheet can help kids with their coloring skills and help them memorize the story of the origin of teddy bears.

Did you know? When engaged in a fight with a black bear, it is best to deliver blows at the bear’s face.
