Kids who enjoy coloring will love these free printable dog day of the dead coloring pages resource. The ‘Día de los Muertos’ or 'Day of the Dead' is the name given to a Mexican holiday celebrated every year on the 1st and 2nd of November in Mexico.

The festival involves the gathering of family and friends, praying together for family members that died.


Dogs specifically are believed to play an important role in the afterlife of a person. Xoloitzcuintli, also sometimes referred to as Mexican Hairless Dogs (Xolos) are believed to be guides to the kingdom of the dead, to the spirit world.

Common things that can be seen on Day of the Dead include dog-shaped sugar skulls, related artwork, and costumed pooches. Recognized in Mexico in 1956, Xolos were considered to be one of the rarest dog breeds found in the world.
