Older sharks are called spiny sharks. There are around five hundred sub species of sharks present in the world.


These sharks vary in size. The smallest shark is 6.6 in (17cm) and it is known as dwarf lantern shark.

It is found deep inside the sea, while the largest shark is the whale shark, which is around 40 ft (12.1 m) in length. Sharks are mostly found at a depth of 6,600 ft. (2011.6 m) inside most of the ocean and or sea. They do not inhabit fresh water, exceptions being bull sharks and river sharks.

They inhabit both freshwater and seawater. Their special coating of dermal denticles protect them from parasites and other injuries and also help in fluid dynamics.
