It seems like forever since children were last in a classroom.

The return to the classroom is around the corner, signalling a new chapter of learning and social engagement. As this day approaches, preparing becomes crucial. Consider refreshing school supplies, setting earlier bedtimes to adjust sleep schedules, and discussing expectations to ease the transition. Also, plan a wholesome breakfast routine and organize transportation for seamless mornings.

What Will You Need For Return To School?

Transitioning back to the classroom after a long holiday can be quite a mental exercise, involving recalling routines and requirements. To ease this process, we've crafted a detailed checklist to help you stay organized. From gathering school materials and finalizing transport arrangements to resetting sleep schedules and planning nutritious lunches, our checklist covers all bases.

Confirm after-school activities and review educational goals with your child, ensuring you're both prepared for a successful return to school. Remember, staying ahead with preparation can make for a smooth and stress-free resumption.

Check You’ve Got All The Times And Dates

Navigating school routines for your children might feel second nature, but it's always worthwhile to revisit official communications from their educational institutions.

Diverse schedules may be implemented to ensure smooth daily operations, and start times may differ based on grade levels or school policies. It's essential to confirm these details, along with the availability of extracurricular activities such as breakfast clubs, sports, and other enrichment programs.

Each school's offerings and timelines may vary, so stay informed and prepared to support your child's academic journey and extracurricular interests as they unfold throughout the school year.

Does The School Uniform Still Fit?

Kids have a habit of growing. We all know this, but it still comes as a surprise when a pair of previously spacious trousers are now skin tight or that prized jumper stops mid-way up the wrists.

It’s been a few weeks since children last pulled on their uniforms. So be sure to do a test run to see if everything still fits. Don’t leave it until the start of the first school day.

Try on every piece of the uniform to ensure a proper fit and comfort, ideally a few days in advance, avoiding any last-minute dashes for new sizes when the school bell rings.

A Little ‘You’ Time?

Finally, the return to school has another very important consequence. Freed from childcare responsibilities, many (though not all) parents and guardians will suddenly have a bit more time on their hands.

With the resumption of school after a holiday break, parents and guardians often find themselves with a rare commodity: time. Once the hustle of preparing for the new term settles, the hours previously dedicated to children's engagement can be repurposed

What to do with the spare hours? For many of us, it’ll be a chance to refocus on work commitments or spend more time with our preschool sibling(s).

But for those who do have a few hours spare, we’ve put together a bucket list aimed at parents. Decorate the bedrooms, volunteer in the community, or simply catch up with all those books you’ve been meaning to read. This transition period presents a perfect opportunity to balance parental responsibilities with self-care and personal passions.
