Feeding your toddler a healthy, well-balanced breakfast can be tricky, and all too often we end up struggling to think of what to make our little ones.

We've put together a list of healthy toddler breakfast recipes that are super simple, and will give your toddlers all the nutrition they need in the morning. These toddler breakfast ideas are great for shaking up your breakfast routine and trying something new.

Banana Soldiers

This is one of our favourite breakfast recipes, because it's so simple to make, yet so delicious! A new take on french toast that adds extra sweetness with a banana, your little ones will love feeding themselves these soldiers for breakfast!

Ingredients:

1 banana

1 egg

A small pinch of cinnamon

2 slices of wholemeal bread

Method:

Mash the bananas until they are completely smooth

Whisk in both eggs to combine

Add a pinch of cinnamon and stir

Cut the bread into three even pieces

Dip into the banana egg mixture

Fry in olive oil until browned, flipping halfway

Banana Pancakes

8 Healthy Breakfast Ideas For Preschoolers

This easy, wholesome breakfast recipe only needs 3 ingredients and doesn't use any flour at all. It's packed with protein from the eggs, and your toddler will love dipping their pancake slices in maple syrup!

Breakfast Muffins

These delicious healthy muffins are one of our breakfast recipes that takes a little more preparation time, but the great thing about this breakfast idea is that you can make a whole batch of muffins, and use them for breakfast and snacks throughout the week.

Ingredients:

3 tbsp light brown sugar

3 tbsp baking powder

1 tbsp ground flax seeds

1 small apple, grated

2 medium eggs

60g butter, melted

170g whole wheat sugar

100g rolled oats

For flavour, add in one or more of the below, or split your mixture in half and flavour each half differently:

1 small handful of blueberries

Half a carrot, grated and a handful of raisins

2 tbsp chocolate chips

Half a small apple, grated and 1 tsp of cinnamon

Method:

Preheat the oven to 375°F / 190°C. Grease a 24 hole mini muffin tin.

Mix together the flour, oats, brown sugar, flax seeds and baking powder and fold in the grated apples.

Beat the eggs in a separate bowl, and add the butter and milk.

Slowly pour the egg mixture into the batter and fold to combine.

Mix in some the ingredients from the ideas above, or split your batter in two and mix in two separate flavour combinations.

Spoon the batter into the tin, filling each cup about three-quarters full.

Bake for 10 minutes until cooked in the middle and remove from the oven,

Allow to cool for 5 minutes in the tin, and then remove and transfer to a cooling rack.

Garlic Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Toddlers will love these cheese bite-sized toasties, and the taste of garlic is a great one to familiarise their tastebuds with from a young age.

Ingredients:

1 clove of garlic

2 tbsp butter, softened

2 slices bread

2 slices of cheddar cheese

Method:

Mince your garlic finely, and place into a cup with the softened butter. Mix to combine.

Butter the bread with the garlic butter

Place one slice of bread slice down in your toastie maker, and top with the sliced cheese and other slice of bread.

Close the toastie maker, and cook for a few minutes until light brown.

Cut into fingers or quarters and leave to cool for 5 or more minutes to ensure they're nice and cool for your little one to eat.

Yoghurt with Granola, Berries and Milk

This easy, tasty breakfast recipe is a great option for little ones because it's full of calcium and protein from the yoghurt. Try using different flavours of yoghurt and different fruits for endless healthy breakfast ideas to make.

Ingredients:

125ml  milk

125ml plain or fruit flavoured yoghurt

1 handful of blueberries

2 tbsp granola

Method:

Mix together the yoghurt and milk, and stir through the granola.

Scatter blueberries on top of the mixture, and you're ready to tuck in!

Frozen Yoghurt Bites

This healthy breakfast, toddlers will love most in the summer, as the frozen yoghurt will keep them cool and even soothe any teething pains too. This breakfast idea is easy to make, and you can bag up a load of them and keep them in the freezer so you're always prepared.

Ingredients:

200g yoghurt

2 handfuls of fresh blueberries and raspberries

Method:

Lay out 12 cupcake cases on a baking sheet or tray that will fit in your freezer.

Using a spoon, split the yoghurt equally between the cupcake cases.

Add fruit to each cup, pressing down to make sure they are stuck in the yoghurt.

Freeze for a couple of hours, and you're ready to eat!

Colourful Breakfast Pizza

Every toddler knows how exciting pizza is, and your little one won't believe their eyes when they see pizza for breakfast! If you're feeling creative, arrange your toppings into a smiley face for an extra special surprise. This healthy toddler breakfast is one of our favourite breakfast ideas.

Ingredients:

A small handful of spinach leaves

220g self-raising flour

280g greek yoghurt

1 small sprig of dill

1 tomato, sliced

4 mushrooms

A small handful of grated cheese

8 eggs

Method

Preheat your oven to 180°C

Blend the spinach leaves in a food processor, or chop finely.

Combine the flour, yoghurt, dill and blended spinach into a dough, and mix with a wooden spoon.

Knead on a floured board until it is no longer sticky - about two or three minutes should do the trick! If it stays very sticky, just keep adding a little bit of flour.

Divide in 4 and roll into circles for your pizza bases.

Layer sliced tomato on the dough, and layer the toppings on top to make a face. Let your inner artist go wild!

Sprinkle over the top with cheese

Crack two eggs on top of each pizza, and carefully place in the oven to cook for 20 minutes.

Wait until the pizza has cooled, and chop into slices to serve! You can keep the other slices in the fridge for more breakfasts and snacks for a few days.

Veggie Egg Casserole

This is a hearty, warming eggy toddler breakfast idea that can be packed full of healthy greens and hidden veggies, with your little one none the wiser. The recipe makes enough portions for you to keep a few in the fridge for later, or make for breakfast for the whole family!

Ingredients:

6 Eggs

250ml Milk

Salt and Pepper

1 handful of broccoli and kale, minced

2 handfuls of grated mozzarella

6 tortillas, sliced

Method:

Preheat the oven to 180°C

Mix the eggs and milk together.

Add the salt and pepper, vegetables and cheese, and stir well.

Wash hands and have kids wash theirs.

Mix eggs and milk and beat well.

Add seasoning, veggies and cheese.

Mix well.

Bake for about an hour until the egg is set all the way through and cut into slices to serve.
