Samwise Gamgee was known to be one of the most popular Hobbits after Bilbo and Frodo Baggins after having given the task by Gandalf to accompany his master, Frodo in his quest, to Mount Doom in 'Lord Of The Rings.'

Portrayed by Sean Astin, he is a clumsy, uneducated Hobbit who addresses Frodo as Mr. Frodo because he gave him a job as his gardener despite being his best friend and loyal companion.

A fierce friend and loyal protector, he protects Frodo in their travels and plays an integral part in destroying the One Ring, hence being deemed the most loyal Fellowship member.

After the events at Mount Doom, he is appointed the mayor of the Shire, gets married to his long-time flame, Rosie Cotton, and goes on to have thirteen children, one of whom he names after Frodo Baggins.

He is always positive to Frodo, and his most famous quote might be "I can't carry it [the One Ring] for you, but I can carry you!" But, after his wife's death, he reunited with Frodo in the Undying Lands having been a ring-bearer briefly.

Here is a list of quotes by Samwise which set high standards in the world of friendship.
