At Kidadl we pride ourselves on offering families original ideas to make the most of time spent together at home or out and about, wherever you are in the world. We strive to recommend the very best things that are suggested by our community and are things we would do ourselves - our aim is to be the trusted friend to parents.
We try our very best, but cannot guarantee perfection. We will always aim to give you accurate information at the date of publication - however, information does change, so it’s important you do your own research, double-check and make the decision that is right for your family.
Kidadl provides inspiration to entertain and educate your children. We recognise that not all activities and ideas are appropriate and suitable for all children and families or in all circumstances. Our recommended activities are based on age but these are a guide. We recommend that these ideas are used as inspiration, that ideas are undertaken with appropriate adult supervision, and that each adult uses their own discretion and knowledge of their children to consider the safety and suitability.
Kidadl cannot accept liability for the execution of these ideas, and parental supervision is advised at all times, as safety is paramount. Anyone using the information provided by Kidadl does so at their own risk and we can not accept liability if things go wrong.
As the name suggests, World Osteoporosis Day is observed throughout the world.
World Osteoporosis Day is observed by everyone who is aware of the importance of bone health or wants to gain more knowledge about this illness. Awareness about World Osteoporosis Day is vital towards fracture prevention and avoiding a sedentary lifestyle that could aggravate such issues.
World Osteoporosis Day was observed for the first time on October 20, 1996.
The National Osteoporosis Society of the United Kingdom started World Osteoporosis Day. However, this day later became the project of the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF), which was founded in 1998 through the cooperation of two organizations!
Osteoporosis and bone loss had been prevalent for a long time before the day was established.
The traditions and customs that surround World Osteoporosis Day include spreading awareness about this medical condition as well as others, such as rheumatoid arthritis. On this day, it is customary that people go through free bone density tests arranged at different organizations. Through such tests, the more high-risk people can be treated quickly so that they do not run the risk of any major unfortunate events such as a hip fracture.
It is also customary that all people dress up in white clothes to show support for the noble cause. Traditions also include games and other fun events which attract millions of people towards the initiatives!
World Osteoporosis Day can be observed in several ways but the most common way is to gather more knowledge about bone health and spread awareness through different media such as the internet, TV, or newspapers.
On this day, it is also important to get a bone density test and become aware of recommended daily vitamin D intakes. You may also make the day interesting by stirring up a conversation among friends, learning more from anyone who may be diagnosed with osteoporosis, and seeing if you can help them in any way.
World Osteoporosis Day is observed to raise awareness about bone health, vitamin D consumption, and bone loss, and the risk factors that can contribute to these issues.
In 2020, the theme was 'THAT'S OSTEOPOROSIS'.
The celebration of this day helps to prevent life-threatening situations as a result of osteoporosis.
Rheumatoid Arthritis Awareness Day is similar to World Osteoporosis Day.
There is a different motto for World Osteoporosis Day every year!
