Whether you live in Hull or are visiting, there are plenty of fun things to do on your visit that will leave you wanting more.

Hull is a fantastic city in East Yorkshire, and was awarded the UK's City of Culture in 2017. There are plenty of exciting activities for children and adults alike just waiting to be discovered here. It is home to historic museums, farms, gardens, play centres and more much more.

If you're looking for some of the top things to do in Hull this summer, we have the answers for you.

Wilberforce House

Wilberforce House is a fantastic place to take your kids for a day out of fun and learning. As the birthplace of William Wilberforce, a famous campaigner against the slave trade, Wilberforce House tells the story of the transatlantic slave trade from its beginnings to abolition.

Now that galleries are able to open, Wilberforce House is taking steps to open safely, with full precautions. You must maintain socially distanced, and it is advised you bring hand sanitiser.    

There is parking available, accessible toilets and baby changing facilities on site. There is no food on site but there are places to eat nearby.

Price: This day out is free!

Diggerland Yorkshire

If your kids go crazy for machinery, then Diggerland Yorkshire is a fantastic experience near Hull.  There are 20 action-packed rides for you and your family to explore here, from dumpers to diggers, and even an indoor go karting course!

Diggerland is open and ready to welcome you back, with increased safety and hygiene measures in place and social distancing rules applied! You must pre-book your tickets in advance. There is free onsite parking, baby-changing facilities, accessible toilets, indoor eating places, an area for picnics and even a gift shop.

Price: Adults cost £23.95, kids (90cm +) cost £23.95 and kids under 90cm are free.

Great Yorkshire Maze

Featuring nine acres of maize plants and never-ending encircling paths to explore, this is a fantastic fun experience for the whole family. There's even a two-acre scarecrow mini maze for kids to explore. The Great Yorkshire Maze also has plenty of vintage funfair thrills that will take you all the way back to the '30s, such as swing boats, dodgems, and a chair-o-plane.

Open now, the team have worked hard to ensure government guidelines are followed, and you'll easily be able to follow social distancing rules in the mazes and on the rides which will be operated with safety and care. The site is cleaned regularly every day.

Food-wise, from light bites to big burgers and vegan treats (and the best ice-cream), there's something for everyone on your visit here.  Alternatively, there are plenty of picnic tables on site if you want to bring your own food on your fun family day out!

There are accessible toilets and baby changing facilities, as well as free parking on site.

Price: Adult, £10.95. Child (3-15, under 3s go free), £9.95. Concessions, £9.95. Family tickets are also available.

Big Fun Hull

Big Fun is the coolest play centre in Hull. It has an array of play equipment and activities designed to stimulate and challenge every age. Parents are even encouraged to join in, whether you want to check on your child or have fun with them, it's a blast. There's an onsite restaurant, so once you're hungry pop over to the 5 star rating friendly restaurant and re-energise.

Set to reopen 15th August, safety precautions have been put in place. It is advised you bring hand sanitiser and maintain social distancing.

There is parking onsite, baby changing facilities and accessible toilets.

Price: Prices range from kids (4-14) at £6.75, to under 1s entering free.

The Deep

This award-winning aquarium is home to over 5,000 animals. Why not take a visit here to marvel at magnificent marine life, including sharks, penguins and turtles, all in Hull!

It's essential that you pre-book online, and follow social distancing rules when you arrive. There is car parking available at £3 for six hours. There is a baby food station at Castaway Cafe, as well as baby changing facilities and food and drink for everyone else to enjoy on site.

Price: Adult, £13.50. Child (Aged 3 - 15), £10.57. Under threes and essential carers are free. Students/Seniors (60+), £12.60.

Wolds Way Lavender

If you're wondering what to do in and around Hull, this outdoor adventure is a great way to spend your day. This huge lavender field is an hour-long drive out of the city centre, but we think it is worth the journey! Kids will have a fantastic experience playing in nature with the activities on offer here.

Tickets must be purchased online in advance of your visit. There are accessible toilets, baby changing facilities and onsite parking. There are takeaway drinks and snacks available, but unfortunately, the tearoom is currently closed. It will open when it is safe to do so, so keep an eye out on their social media pages!

Price: Family tickets start from £24. Single tickets are £6.50 for adults and £5.50 for children.

Humber Bridge Country Park

Humber Bridge Country Park has 48 acres of woodland with gorgeous open meadows and wildlife ponds. There are chalk cliffs that enclose the park on three sides and many call it the Little Switzerland because it looks like snow! It's perfect for picnics, but if that isn't your thing, there are places to eat nearby and The Country Park Inn onsite. This location is a perfect peaceful day out if you're looking for free things to do in Hull.

Make sure you bring hand sanitiser and adhere to social distancing throughout your day trip.

There are baby changing facilities, and accessible toilets, and parking available.

Dinostar

The museum is great for children and families, perfect for any Dinosaur enthusiasts.  Exhibits are interactive, with buttons to push and touch. Young palaeontologists can dig for dinosaur bones in the sand or do some fossil rubbing!

There are hand sanitiser facilities dotted around, while regular cleaning will take place. Social distancing must be maintained. Dinostar has also been awarded the 'Good To Go' COVID-19 industry standard for businesses.

There is parking and toilets available, but no baby changing facilities on site. There is no food on site but there are places nearby to eat, have a drink and relax.

Price: Adults £3. Children £1.50. Senior Citizens £1.50.

Ferens Art Gallery

Open now, Ferens Art Gallery is ready for art lovers to explore! With an array of stunning and unique paintings, plus guided tours and family-orientated activities on offer, there's something here for everyone.

You must pre-book a time slot to visit, and once you are in you have a limited time to explore. You are also encouraged to wear face masks, there are plenty of hand sanitiser stations around and a one-way system to follow.

There are pay and display car parking areas nearby. The nearest council car parks are Osbourne Street multi-storey car park and Lowgate car park. There are accessible toilets, baby changing facilities, guided tours and wheelchair access. There is an onsite cafe that is currently closed but will open when it is safe, for when you need that extra little coffee break or a warm bite to eat.

Price: Free.

Fraisthorpe Beach

You might not expect the beach to be one of the best things to do in East Yorkshire. But this beautiful beach, less than an hour from Hull city centre, is a fantastic place to go for a day out to spending quality time with your family in a beautiful setting.

Make sure you bring hand sanitiser and adhere to social distancing throughout your day trip. There is pay-for parking at Auburn Farm, which is slightly raised from the beach. There are no baby changing facilities here.
