With lockdown restrictions easing off, there is still time left in the year for some summertime fun with the kids.

Stamford is a town famous for its interesting Georgian architecture, medieval history and rich culture. From tours around the historic centre to travelling to another world with virtual reality games, there are so many things to do in this wonderful place that the whole family will love!

Sacrewell Farm & Country Centre

Location: Great North Road, Thornhaugh, Peterborough, Stamford.

Explore the countryside and meet some amazing animal friends on Sacrewell Farm. There are so many things to do here including meeting newborn chicks in the hatchery, taking a tractor tour and exploring the eighteenth-century watermill.

With lots of wide open spaces and plenty of activities to keep busy, this is a perfect location to visit with the children for some socially distanced fun!

COVID-19 Precautions: Be aware of social distancing and don't forget your hand sanitiser as you will be coming into contact with farm animals.

Food: The cafe on site will be serving homemade food to visitors. You are also welcome to bring a picnic.

Facilities: There are toilets available to use on site.

Parking: There is a parking area close to the farm.

Stamford Market

Location: Broad Street and Ironmongers Street, Stamford.

One of the top things to do with kids in Stamford is to visit the farmers' markets. The main market is held every Friday with approximately 90 traders. Interact with the community and support local businesses and farmers by bringing the kids on a day out to the market.

COVID-19 Precautions: There is a lower number of traders and there are barriers in place to ensure social distancing protocol.

Food: Many of the stalls at the market will be selling food.

Facilities: There are no toilets available at this attraction.

Parking: There are several parking areas near the market.

Burghley House & Garden of Surprises

This regal location in Stamford is a great place to visit for parents and children alike. This is one of the oldest surviving Elizabethan estates and features attractions like beautiful architecture, a vast collection of fine art and the gorgeous Garden of Surprises.

The garden has a sculpture trail and is filled with many colourful plants that will capture the attention of any young child.

COVID-19 Precautions: The Burghley House team asks for any visitors to wear a mask for the duration of their time indoors.

Food: The Orangery Restaurant, located inside the house, will be open for visitors as well as The Garden Shed, located outdoors, which will be serving takeaway food and drink.

Facilities: Toilets are available on site.

Parking: Parking is found through the Visitor's Entrance.

Grimsthorpe Castle Park

Location: The Coach House Yard, Grimsthorpe, Bourne.

Get a taste of the past while roaming around this historic venue. Surrounded by rolling fields, stunning woodland and other beautiful natural attractions, the Grimsthorpe Castle is as stunning as you'd expect a medieval royal home to be.

With connections to King Henry VIII, King George IV and a few more majestic names, there is a lot of interesting things to be learned here.

Please Note: This venue is currently closed to the public, however, keep an eye out on their website for any news on reopening.

Food: There is a tea shop on site that sells coffee and sandwiches.

Facilities: There are toilets accessible in the building.

Parking:  Free parking is available for visitors.

Church of St. Mary

Location: St. Mary's Hill, Stamford.

The Church of St. Mary is a very popular location in Stamford. With gorgeous Georgian architecture, lovely traditional stained glass windows and a strong community, this Church is a great place to visit with the family.

There are often events held in the church such as classical concerts and festival traditions, keep your eye on their website for more information.

COVID-19 Precautions: Masses and opening times have been reduced in order to comply with government rules.

Peterborough Museum & Art Gallery

Location: Priestgate, Peterborough, Stamford.

This is a top cultural location to visit in Stamford for expanding young minds. The museums's attractions include historic artefacts like fossils and trinkets from ancient Rome as well as a wonderful art collection with interactive displays.

There are also many popular hands-on workshops that take place here, From learning to draw to talks from local artists, there is always something fun going on at this location.

Parking: There is parking available nearby.

Twinlakes Park

Location: Melton Spinney Road, Melton Mowbray.

For some adventure packed fun, Twinlakes Park has now reopened, only a forty-minute drive from the centre of Stamford!

With themed attractions such as the medieval Excalibur Adventure Zone with roller coasters and soft play for toddlers, to the falconry with real-life birds of prey and handling sessions, there are so many things to do in this popular place to visit.

COVID-19 Precautions: Please book your tickets online and if you are planning to enjoy the water park, Twinlakes Park asks that you book a time slot at least one hour in advance upon your arrival.

Food: There are cafes on the premises that are offering takeaway food. You are also welcome to bring a picnic.

Facilities: There are toilets available on the premises.

Parking: There is free parking available.
